Dolittle Movie Review
Thanks to We All Grow Latinas, I had the opportunity to attend an early screening of Universal’s Dolittle movie starring Robert Downey Jr.
A little recap of what this movie is about:
Dr. John Dolittle lives in solitude behind the high walls of his lush manor in 19th-century England. His only companionship comes from an array of exotic animals that he speaks to on a daily basis. But when young Queen Victoria becomes gravely ill, the eccentric doctor and his furry friends embark on an epic adventure to a mythical island to find the cure.
This movie doesn’t compare to any other Dolitte movie out there. This isn’t a silly comedy movie. It’s very heart felt with of course, some funny moments. With the amazing cast like Robert Downey Jr., Emma Thompson, Selena Gomez, John Cena, and Antonia Banderas, this movie was a hit for me and my family. My girls really enjoyed the movie. Even my 3-year old daughter sat through the whole movie excited to see what will happen next. My girls loved seeing all the talking animals. They gave the movie a funny feel to it. Come on, who wouldn’t laugh at a talking Gorilla?!
I honestly thought I wouldn’t be able to get over the fact that I am seeing “Iron Man” as another character. (side note: I am a big fan of the Marvel/Avengers movies). Robert Downey Jr. really gave the Dr. Dolittle character a great persona that anyone would love. He did an extraordinary job in his new role. He really mastered his British accent and transformed himself into a solitary character that is coming back to humanity. He was funny but in a way you felt bad for him for everything he has gone through.
My big takeaway from this movie: Everyone deserves to be heard.
This movie comes out this Friday, January 17, 2020. This movie is a sure hit with the whole family. Get ready to laugh and maybe even shed a tear or two.
