My family and I had the greatest time at this event. I wanted to share some tips on how to make the best of the night if you have little ones.

1. Arrive early

The Moon light Forest is open from 5:30pm to 10:00pm. Get there early to find parking inside The Arboretum. Once those lots get full, all cars are being diverted to the Westfield Santa Anita shopping center. There you can grab the free shuttle that takes you to the entrance of The Arboretum.

We parked at the outdoor section of the Westfield Santa Anita Shopping center and walked across to the Depot Lot Entrance. It was a small walk. No big deal since we had our stroller.

2. Bring a stroller

I have three kiddos. My two youngest still sit in the stroller and my oldest sits whenever she’s tired. The stroller was a must for us and we are glad we took it. The trails are very stroller friendly. So a good sturdy stroller that can go on trails and grass will help you a lot.

3. Suit up

As its starts to feel like fall and moving into winter, the nights are definitely feeling colder. Suit up with warm clothes for you and your little ones. This will help you enjoy the trails as you go along one exhibition to the other. With that being said, bring comfortable shoes. There is A LOT of walking. This is where that stroller helps for the kiddos but for us, parents, we have to walk.

4. Get a map and plan out

A map is crucial. I provided one here but get your own copy. You want to see all the exhibits. The Arboretum has two big circles trails to enjoy. No matter where you start, you will be able to enjoy it all. At the center, there’s a stage with a Chinese Acrobats show. You will be amazed to see the acrobats with high chairs, handstands, bar balance, face changer and more!

There are 3 shows (4 on weekends) to look out for. Plan it ahead and grab a bench before the crowd gathers to see this amazing show.

5. Bring snacks

With all the walking, you are sure to get hungry. Bring snacks for the kiddos or a nice drink to keep warm. They do have a Food Truck area. There’s savory and sweet options.

Looks like everyone gets hungry at the same time though, so avoid the crowd all together and bring your own snacks or food. Sit at the tables near the food trucks and enjoy all the lights around while you eat.

6. Take lots of pictures

Make sure your phone is all charged up to take lots and lots of pictures. Every exhibit is a great photo opp. Take all the pictures as you will want to remember this day!
