VOLTA, Cirque du Soleil in Los Angeles

Cirque se Soleil is famously known in Vegas. That doesn’t mean you have to go there to enjoy a show. Cirque du Soleil has brought it close to home, here in Los Angeles. I had the pleasure of attending their spectacular show. Let me tell you what you’re missing out on!

Cirque du Soleil has brought their show VOLTA in their Big Top production to the Dodger Stadium now until March 8th, 2020. Then they are headed to the OC fair and Event center in Costa Mesa from March 18-April 19th, 2020. You have to get a seat at their first ever sports inspired show.

The story line to VOLTA keeps you on the edge of your seat but also pulls the strings to your heart. A story of transformation and loving yourself for who you are. It is about being true to oneself, fulfilling one’s true potential, and recognizing one’s own power to make it possible. Ultimate freedom comes with self-acceptance, and with the liberation of the judgement of others. You feel for the young man at the center of the stage. You feel his pain and his triumphs through the performances and music.

Acrobatics, street sports and BMX are what keep you in awe. The men and women swinging from one side to the other side of the tent was amazing to see. The acrobatic acts were great to see. I was an awe to see the ability of a human body can do through strength and ability. Then there was the BMX portion of the show that had me feeling like a little kid again. Seeing all these tricks that these performers were mastering showed me the real talents behind a two wheel bike. All the talent show in the show was spectacular to look at and kept you wanting more.

With all those performances, the one thing that kept it all together was the music. VOLTA’s live band was an absolute delight which is complete with powerful vocalists, violinist, percussion and more. You are feeling the joy of all the acrobatic parts or feeling the pain of the performances. VOLTA evokes a complex array of emotions and moods that ebb and flow majestically like the tide. It is a narrative tool in its own right, echoing the different arcs in the storyline and expressing the distinct personalities of the worlds of VOLTA.

When it is all put together, VOLTA plays well with your feelings. You want more of the heart felt music or the high intense acrobatic shows. You will leave this show with a sense of self love, uplifting your spirit and enjoying the world around you.
